News 8 Austin did a feature this week on Daily Juice, an Austin original.

Watch the full episode by going here. We’re about 1/3 of the way into the broadcast.

From their story:

Curious George, Berried Alive, and the Maca-Braina are just a few of the drinks you can order at Daily Juice. This Austin original serves up nutritious drinks at three locations.

“It’s all natural. It’s gluten-free. It’s raw and it’s delicious,” co-owner Keith Wahrer said. “We try to do as much nutritionally dense foods as possible.”

The menu is as dense as the drinks, offering dozens of opportunities to take in “super foods” like spirulina, kombucha, and guarana.

“I would recommend organic green juices,” Wahrer said. “The cool thing about doing a green juice, like an organic kale, parsley, spinach, cucumber celery drink, is that you’re re-mineralizing your body.”

Wahrer said a green juice helps replace minerals that you are missing in your body and keeps you from feeling hungry.

For people on the run, Wahrer suggests the Chocolate Prauna to keep energized. The drink combines coconut with super foods like Maca Root.

“Coconut is nature’s highest source of electrolytes. It’s natures Gatorade,” Wahrer said.

Drinks range in size and price from about $3 to $15.

In addition to serving smoothies and juices, Daily Juice offers organic foods at the Daily Juice Cafe in Hyde Park. According to the company’s Web site, the cafe is Austin’s first 100-percent raw-foods eating establishment.
